A correspondent, " Business Man," writes as follows re bankruptcy matters :—" Your remarks upon the proposed amendments in the Bankruptcy Act are very true and appropriate. How many uneducated men have been successful who do not know how to write, much less to keep books. In dealing with this subject great discretion is necessary. Hard and fast Acts of Parliament arc capable of being made the instruments of gross cruelty and hardship, and placing would-be honest men with families outside the possibility of earning a living for themselves and those dependant upon them. Abolish the Bankruptcy Laws, and you would have less credit given and more for the creditors to receive, whilo fewer men will bo ruined."
