AUCKLAND COURSING CLUB PONY MEETING. A pony race meeting, under the auspices of the Auckland Club, was held on Saturday afternoon, in Potter's I'addock, but, as the weather was cold and showery, the attendance was small. The events were on the whole fairly interesting. There were two totalisators worked conjointly, the Club having obtained a license for the use of the instrument prior to the issue of the recent circular by the Colonial Secretary, but they were not patronised to any great extent, although the investments were reduced to 10s tickets. Hunter's band was in attendance, and played a number of selections (luring the afternoon. Mr. R. Garrett officiated as judge, Mr. T. A. Brown clerk of the course, Mr. F. \V. Marks as clerk of the scales, Mr. .James Wattie as starter, and Mr. If. H. Hayr as secretary. The following are the results of the various events :— Maiden Trot ; a handicap of lOsovs. Open to all horses that have never won a Trotting Race exceeding ssovs. in value. Two miles. Mr. Dalgleish's b in Maud, 100 yds (W. (McMillan) 1 Mr. Mason's b g Bay Billy, 100 yds (owner) 2 Mr. H. Canham's g m Rose, 50yds (owner) 3 Ten others started, and the race was won easily by Maud by fully 50 yards, the time being 6min fusees. Totalisator dividend on 30s tickets. £1 lis. Maiden Pony Rack, of lOsovs.; for all ponies 14.2 and under, that have never won a race exceeding osovs. in value. Six furlongs. Mr. W. Lawson's Grace Darling, fist 71b (hums) .. 1 Mr. J. Rae's b m Governess, Sat 41b (Dixon) 2 Mr. O. C. McGee's ch m Ihumuta, ost 71b (McGee) 3 Gamecock (Sst 41b), Palmastella (Oat), Little Hilda (9st), and Kittie (Sst), also ran. Ihumata was favourite with Uamecock second in demand. Mr. Wattie after considerable delay sent them away pretty evenly. Little Hilda made the running at first, but in the home turn Grace Darling took the lead, and after a Hogging race in tire straight won by about a neck from Governess, Iluunataa good third. Dividend, £3 9s. Plumiton Park Cop, a Handicap of 25sovs. Second pony to receive osovs from the stakes. For all ponies 14.2 and under. One mile. Mr. M. R. Halcrow's bg Signess, list 71b, (G. Laing) 1 Mr. J. Thorpe's blk m Moth, Sst 101b, (Carey) 2 Mr. W. B. Lawson's m Grace Darling, Sst, (Burns) " ... 3 Nuisance (Ist 71b), Pica (7st7lb), Odessa (7st 41b), Lucretia (list 71b), and Fanny Fisher (6s t 71b), also ran. Dynamite and V enetia were scratched. The pouies got away to au excellent start and swept through the straight and past the stand a compact squadron, except which was left in the rear. At the back oi the course, Signess and Moth separated themselves from the others and were together on entering the straight, but there Signess came away and won easily by two lengths, eight lengths separating the second and third. Dividend, £1 l(ss. Novel Pony Race of 1 osovs. For all ponies 14.2 and under. The winner to be sold immediately after the race, and the whole of the proceeds to go to the club. Little Mary took the lead from the start and was never headed, winning eventually by four lengths, the same distance separating the second and third. Dividend, £1 7s. Dividend, £1 6s. Handicap Hurdles, of 20sovs Second pony to receive 4sovs from the stakes. For all ponies 14"2 and under. One mile and a half. Mr. J. Thorpe's blk m Moth, 9st 101b (Carey) 1 Mr. W. B. Lawson's m Grace Darling (F. Bruno) 2 Mr. J. Maitland's b m Kittie, Sst (Farrell) 3 Dynamite (list 41b), All Black (9st), Pica (9st), and Northern Spy (Sst) also ran. Dynamite led at first, but fell at the off-aide corner, and was out of the race, and Grace Darling then took command, with Moth next. Kittie came up well, and led past the post, but going round the back Moth came up with Kittie, and led through the home turn and straight, winning by two lengths from Grace Darling, who beat Kittie for places. Dividend, £1 ss. Flying Stakes, a handicap of lOsovs. For all ponies 14.0 and under. Five furlongs. Mr. D. Wilson's br g Baker, 6st 71b (Golding) ' 1 Mr. H.
