'CYCLING SPORTS. Sydney, May 19. At the 'cycling sports yesterday, the two miles (first-class) bicycle race was won by Busst, of Melbourne, Fenelon, of England, being second, and Mutton, of Sydney, third. It was an excellent race, and Busst covered the distance in 6min 48 3-sth sec. THE MAORI FOOTBALLERS. Melbourne, May 19. The Maori football team played Ballarat yesterday afternoon, and after a splendid contest the game resulted in favour of the home team by four goals and three behinds to three behinds.
FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT. Melbourne, May 18. Mr. Bosanquet, jeweller, who was in jured in the accident on North Melbourne Railway line last night, is dead, and Wells, painter, is in a critical condition. The other sufferers are progressing favourably. THE WRECK OTTHE ALTMORE. Sydney, May IS. A portion of the crew of the Altmore, wrecked at Fiji on April 22, have arrived here. They had heard nothing of the missing boats when they left, put it is supposed they might possibly effect a landing in the Ba River. NEW ZEALND WHEAT SEED. Sydney, May 18. Farmers in the Dubbo district decline to accept New Zealand wheat for seed purposes. They assert they have tried it before, and found it failed to germinate. NEW ZEALAND GRAIN IN SYDNEY. _ Sydney, May 18. At a sale of grain, ex s.s. Hauroto, the following prices were realised :— Wheat : Chick feed, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; Hunter's white and pearl, 4s 2d to 4s 5d ; prime Tuscan, 4s 8d to 4s 9d. Oats: Faulty, 2s 9d ; medium, 2s lid to 3s 2d ; milling, 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; prime feed, 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Maize, 3s 3d. Bran, Is Id. Pollard, Is 2d. SHIPPING. Sydney, May 18. Arrived : Lady Mabel, from Whangaroa. Newcastle, May 19. Sailed : Janet Nicoll, for Lyttelton. Brisbane, May 18. Sailed : Sovereign, for Auckland.
