. «$. . A YEAR'S RECORD. fur TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.} Christchurch, Friday. Offences return for the Christchurch polico district, which includes the country from. Kuikoura to Rangitata, for 1888, shows that during that year 2052 offences of all descriptions were reported, against 1970 in 1887. 1955 persons were apprehended against 1845 in the previous year. Of the persons apprehended 55 were males. Eight females were committed for trial 1404 males and 220 females summarily convicted ; 236 males and 32 females discharged. The offences reported included 921 charges of drunkenness agaii'.st 746 in ISS7 - ,
