BOARD OF EDUCATION.
Thk ordinary weekly meeting of the Board of Education was held yesterday afternoon, at the offices, Victoria Arcade, when there were present: Mr. Upton, in the chair, and Messrs. Carr, J. M. Lennox, Theo. Cooper, (Jdv, D. Goldie, Moat, Monk, and YLncent E. Rice (secretary). Chairman's Report.The chairman's report was read and adopted. It was of a routine character.
Applications.Applications were dealt with as follows Dome Valley, removal of chimney, granted; Lucas' Crock, painting of school, tenders called for the work; Mnhurangi, concreting at West School, half cost granted; Ohinemuri, enl«,rgom<mfc of Paeroa School, deferred till the intention of Government rc school buildings grant is known; question of school building at Mackavtown, deferred; Pukoatua, application for a school refused; Pukete, re, conduct of school half-time, decided to have two full-time schools ; Tuakau, teaching of seventh standard, a reply to bo sent that seventh standard is legal and compulsory; Waikiekie, removal and enlargesinent of West School, committee to be asked as to cost and necessity of doing so ; Waitoa Valley, erection of new school, deferred; Whananaki, erection of a new sohool, docided to take steps to secure reserve ; Omaha, painting of school and teacher's houa<» agreed to pay the contractor.
