London, March 28. The total amount of reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £15,216,000, a decrease of £244,000. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 4l£ per cent. Consols are 98]-. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock is 104j. Market active. Australian wheat, ex store, 41s ; New Zealand long-berried, ex store, 40s. Copper, £39 10s ; steady. Sugar is still advancing : German beet, 16s 6d ; Java ditto, 18s. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in the Clyde, 44s 6d. Tallow shows an advance. Best mutton, 26s to 26s 6d ; best beef, 25s to 25s 6d. New Zealand mutton is 4d to 4|d; beef nominally sam« price. Sugar is rising, owing to rumours of heavy deficiency in the Cuba crop. The acreage in that island is 8000 below that of last year.
