Captain Reid, of Hamilton, stated that there, were two splendid sites available at Hamilton, with flat land, healthy position, and good water, and fodder, pasturage, and any other assistance desired would be freely rendered by the Hamilton folks. After a lengthy discussion it was proposed by Lieutenant James, " That the resolution making Pukekohe the place for the camp be rescinded, and that Hamilton be chosen."
