THE ADDINGTON GAOL.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRKS3 ASSOCIATION.] Ciiristchukcii, Thu rad ay. A petition has been signed by residents near the Addington Gaol protesting against its transformation into a criminal lunatic asylum. There is considerable agitation on the subject. The chief gaoler and matron have received notices that their services will be dispensed with on April :}O.
Work is going 011 rapidly at the Otaua swamp lands on the lute purchases, some of the owners having between 30 and 40 acres felled and burned if., having had good burns.
The shipment of new winter jackets, mantles, dresses, and millinery by the Arawa for McMaster and Shalders, has just arrived in time for the great cluing in weather.
