THE WAIPIRO MURDERS.
[by TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ' Gisborne, Wednesday. The evidence of natives given this morning in the murder case shows that two days before the murder Haira te Peri was paid for grass-seed cutting, ono cheque being for himself and one cheque to take to another native that night. Prisoner gambled with others at Akuaku, and lost all his money. Next day (Tuesday) he was wandering about in a melancholy mood, and said it was a bad thing he had lost the money of his friend. On Wednesday night he left Akuaku in tho direction of Mataanu, and could not avoid passing Mataahu in order to get to Rehorua, which was his home. Further evidence was given and had not concluded when the Court rose.
