UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LECTURES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Mr. Bruce's letter in Saturday's Herald states that the public are admitted to the University College lectures on payment of usual fees. What are these fees? Being desirous of ascertaining particulars respecting the lectures on music, I inquired personally of the writer (Mr. Bruce) for further information, and that gentleman courteously referred me to the Registrar of the College. I called on that official yesterday, who in answer to my inquiries handed me the Auckland College Calendar, in which there appears under the heading of "Music" notices of two classes of instruction in music (junior and senior divisions). It seems that the lessons given to the students in these classes are designated lectures, which title I think is somewhat ambiguous. Will Professor Schmitt inform the musical public, through your columns, whether there are any other lectures to be delivered during the forthcoining term than the instruction to be given to the students of the two elementary classes referred to.— am, &c.,
W. H. Webbe. P.S.— write on behalf of numerous musical students.—W.H.W.
