DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. DUNEDIX, March 26.—At an auction sale of grain the bidding was not brisk, and miilera did not bid for any lots whore bags extra was a condition. Danish sparrowbill oats realised 2s 7d ; black do., is 4i'l and 2s Old. Wheat was sold at 4s Id, 4s 4-J-ci, Is 3d, and -is 4(1; potatoes, £4 10s ; butter, 8^(1. WAIRARAPA. Messrs. Lowes and lorns' Rr.roßT.—All sales during the week have been well attended, and business brisk in every department. On Wednesday we held our usual stock sale at the Itcnill-rtreot yards, the entries for-which were the most numerous and the sale the largest yet held in the Wairarapa, as we penned 12,400 sheen, 100 head of cattle, 20 horses, and 30 pigs, besides sundries. The attendance was very 1? rn»; and representative. In sheep every line, with the exception of two large nens of old merino ewes, sold under the hammer, anil prices were sound throughout. Cattle all sold, but none at poor figures. Only a few of the horses changed hands, these being of the hotter classes. Pics were in good demand, all selling freely. The following are the prices obtained Heavy fat wethers, 10s; freezers, On to 9s 6d ; heavy fat ewes, 8s ; medium, 73 to 7s Od ; store wethers, from 7s Sd to 8s 3d ; young wethers, Is ; forward ewes, 6s to Cs Od; forward wethers, Ss 9d. Breeding owes were in good demand, all soiling first-class, young cwos making Ss ; medium quality, 7s; ordinary young crossbred ewes, 6s to Cs 6d ; medium, 5s 'to 6s lOd; aged and full - mouthed ewes, 3s to 4s lOd ; old culls, 2s to 2s lod ; merino culls, Od to Is. In lambs all classes, both shorn and woolly, were represented — best woolly making 6s 6d; medium, 5s 6d ; inferior, 3s fid to 4s Od ; shorn, best, ss; medium, 4s ; inferior, 2s Cd. In rams, a line of Southern' Lincoln®, 2-tooth, averaged 3 guineas; , aged, i to 11 guineas; Romney Marsh, young, 1 guinea; aged, 10s to 15s. In cattle they were all large—being beef, forward, and good stores. Fat bullocks made £4 to £-1 10s, and £4 15s, or about lis (3d per 1001b ; cow beef, £2 10s to £3, or 10s 6<l per 1001b. Forward steers, £3 5s to .£3 15s ; useful stores, £2 10s to £2 15s; store cows, £1 15s ; dairy stock, £3 to £4 ss. In horses a great many of an inferior class were entered', but only those of a useful stain]) changed hands. Hacks, £5 to -'.'lO; light harness,- £8 to £11; draughts, £12 to £11. In pigs the entries comprised weaners, slips, and porkers, making Bs, 12s. and 15s respectively. At the rooms, on Saturday, wo soldfowls, 2s to 2s (5d ; turkeys, 6s ; geese, ss; ducks, 2s <Jd to 3s ; potatoes, £5 10s ; oats, 2s 3d. to 2s 6d. For feed and milling : Wheat, milling, 33 Cd; fowl, 2s Gd ; [chaff, £2 ss; oaten, £3; brail, £1. Grass seed is selling freely—rye making 4s (SI; cocksfoot, 3d per lb ; turnip seed, B<l. Sales of fuuiture have showed a marked improvement.
