THE SCOTTISH SPURGEON.
TliK Rev. John McNeillhas decided to accept the urgently-pressed call of the Regent Square Presbyterian congregation to become their spiritual head. His decision was announced in Edinburgh at a special meeting of the Scottish Free Church Presbytery, crowded beyond any meeting of that body seen since the Disruption. The Commissioners of Mr. McNeill's church in Edinburgh forwarded to thePresbyterya very strongly-worded protest against Scotland yielding up her gifted son. On the other hand, the Regent Square people urged that London contained a population larger than the whole of Scotland. The arguments on both sides lasted some hours. Sir. McNeill was among the listeners. He intimated his intention to no person whatever until he had heard the arguments of the meeting, when he announced acceptance of the call.
