Vaile and Douglas' mart to-day a five-roomed house and allotment, 30 by 90, in Richmond Road, was sold by auction for £170, Miss Benjamin being the purchaser. Grain is selling freely, but at reduced Tallies. Onions are easier. Potatoes of really good quality command ready sale, and Talues are more tied. Vegetables are low. Fresh batter has been in smaller supply, and met with better demand. For keg batter there is still no demand. Cheese of good quality has moved more freely. Honey is dull. Bacon and hams move slowly. In the poultry department the supply has again been larjre, every pen being filled. Values unchanged. Turkeys have been iu large supply, and have sold high. Pigs: SmaJler numbers to hand. All sold at ge-od rallies. Fruit : The supply has again been large, particularly in apples, which ba\e been far in excess of demand, consequently prices have been low. Pears still remain at late quotations. Plums remain at last week's values. Lemons have been in (rood supply and have sold hish. Grapes : The supply, though large, has l>een far short of requirements, and betujr prices have been obtained. Peaches in abort supply, prices high. No Cape gooseberries to hand ; several lota were wanted. A Jari{e supply of water melons cause to h%nd and sold freely.
