AN ACCLIMATISA TION SOCIETY IN DIFFICULTIES.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRE 93 ASSOCIATION.] Uhristchurch, Thursday. A special meeting of tho Acclimatisation Society was hold to-day, when it was decided to draw up a circular showing the position of tho society, and appealing to the public for assistance. The debit balance on December 31, ISSS, was £207, and the deficit at the end of 1889 is estimated to be noarly thab amount. Members gonerally condemned the apathy of the public, who derive advantage*from fishing, shooting, etc., yet only contribute the bare license fees. Dr. Frankish, Mr. Speakman, and the secretary were deputed to issue a circular, and make a thorough appeal. If it fails, the society will wind up.
