A SOLICITOR SUED BY HIS CLIENT.

♦■■ [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Wednesday. At the Supreme Court to-day Mary S. Jones sought to recover £186 10s from F. W. R. Anderson, her solicitor, on the grounds that it was wrongfully detained. The defendant, in addition to law costs, charged five per cent, for obtaining two loans for the plaintiff, the commission being divided between himself and the agent. The security offered was the plaintiff's life interest and that of her children in the Goodwood property, the income from which was £1200 per annum, but other mortgages existed on it. Judgment was given for £155, the Judge remarking that the charges were improper, and both commission and procuration should not be charged.
