PRICE OF POTATOES.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —In your issue of this date, it was reported by some person at a meeting held at Te Awomutu, and supplied by your own correspondent, that I had purchased the whole of Mrs. Cawkwell's crop of potatoes at £6 per ton, in the ground, and that I had to boar the expense of lifting and removing the same. The above statement is incorrect and misleading. I purchased the crop at a given price, delivered into my store in a marketable condition. While wishing the Waikato farmers good crops and a good price, it would be well not to be too sanguine, and not to believe all the reports going about. And it would be well for correspondents of newspapers to get reports authenticated before making use of names. —l am, &c, T. adman. Seed and Produce Merchant, Queen-street, Auckland, January 14, 1889. .
