London, December 27. The total reserve in the Bank of England is £11,622,000 being an increase of £422,000. The proportion of the perI centage to the liabilities is 43 l-sth per i cent. The English wheat market is lifeless. The Continental market is inactive, and American is declining with increased weakness. American visible supply is 38/300,000 bushels. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2j416,000 quarters, and for the Continent 460,000 quarters. London, December 23. The tallow market is quiet, but prices remain steady. Best mutton is quoted at 35s 6d, ana best beef at 33s 6d to 345. London, December 30. New consols are quoted at 97^. New Zealand 4 per cents inscribed are Business is active. Australian wheat, ex store, is quoted at 42s 6d, with the market weaker. NewZealand long-berried, 42s 6d, with business very restricted. The English wheat market is still heavy and inactive, and the Continental is depressed, while American is improving. For small shipments of Australian new crops on passage, sellers are asking 425. Flour, Australian, ex store, 29s 6d ; New Zealand, 265. Colonial barley, from 30s : oats, from £ss. • j The money market is active, owing to requirements for stock exchange settlement. For three months bills 4 per cent, is asked; for short loans, 6 per cent. ■ The sugar market is quiet at 14a. Iron is quoted at 425.
