THE MINISTER OF MINES.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Paeroa, Tuesday. The following grant 3 have been promised by the Minister of Mines for works in the Ohinemuri District: —Mackaytown, Butler's Road deviation, £1000; Komata Swamp, £200; Aroha Road, £100; Rangiora Road, £20 ; Waihi Bridge, £250. The latter work will be immediately started. The Marototo Road grant of £1000 has been cancelled. Te Aroha, Tuesday. The Minister of Mines, accompanied by Mr. H. Gordon and Mr. Cadman, M.11.R., arrived here yesterday evening. To-day the party visited Waiorongomai, and inspected the new plant of the Mount Aroha Gold and Silver Mining Company. They were greatly pleased with what they saw, and were surprised tit the magnitude of the works in progress. To-night the Minister will receive a number of deputations, and will leave by train to-morrow for Waikato.
