PER CONTRA.

Til THE EDITOR. Sift, —1 heartily admire your articles on the Sunday question, and 1 highly appreciate the good Archdeacon's Dudley's decisive communication on that subject; bub as to Mr. Upton personally, 1 cannot bub think that he is dealt with unfairly, except by yourself. Mr. Upton distinctly recognised these two essential principles—first, that Sunday, or the Lord's Day, is to be observed as the chief day for Divine worship, and, secondly, that it is the day of rest. It is certainly a weak point in hie reported speech, that he seemed to ignore the claims of attention to charitable toil, such as Sunday-schools and other lay ministrations. This was probably no more than an inadvertence, but any such omission or error of detail is far from warranting the lavish imputations recklessly made by some of your correspondents.—l am, etc., Impartial Spectator.
