E. Stone. j C* iMBEK Or Commerce REPRESENTATIVE. i —> Young. Secretary of the Chamber of i Commerce. intimated tnatMr. A. H. Nathan £ had been elected as me representative of the : Chamber at the Board. The Chairman was . sure member; would be pleased to see = Mr. N«ttnan back a rain. I Extension of '•'•me.—Mr. John Aickin ( wrote a«riinr for n extension of time in J resi.-.-t of hii conti .i.:i tor the erection of a < p«.'d- lat the Vueen-street Wharf. The J cons.deration of the matter was ordered to < fciHiid over until tne contract was completed. 1 Matter- at Xmrtucote.—Mr. __ Thomas < Seaman wrote or. 11 al* or the Xorthcote 1 Road Board calling attention to the inroads ] being made bv the tides at the recent recla- < n. itioii at the wharf approach, orthcote. ' lie , j,, asked that the waiting room at the < ■wuan be closed by a siidinsr door. The ; Chairman thought that the liability of re- 1 p: i.nrir the cl.xv at the wharf approach rested ■with tne County < loaned. the Board being responsible for tae- stone :ill;ng. It was decided to rej.iv that the Board were willing to i repair the stone tilling provided that the Count'.' Council made good the clay approach. The request as to the sliding door was granted. . Finance AND I. EC. AT, COMMITTEE.— committee recommended : 1. That Mr. Errington be requested to render his accounts against the Board in respect to Calliope Dock before miv further payments are made to him. J. That, in respect of Mr. Cunning's application lor extension of lease of allotment at Devonport, an extension for seven years be granted, rental to be £25 per annum from the date of the new lease, and Mr. Dunning to submit for approval plan of the proposed extension of timber-yards. 3. That the Board abandon the proposal to convert bonds at present, and the Bank of New Zealand be requested to return all bonds now remaining unsold in London. 4. That allotments Nos. 117, lis, and 119, Queen-street, and allotments 120, 121. and 122, Quay-street, be let for M vcars, 50 per cent increase of rental at the end of the 21st year, and half valuations of the buildings to be allowed at the end of term: and that lots A and B, Mechanics' Bay. and lot C, at corner of Frozen Meat I Company's reclamation, be let for a, term of I 'J1 vears. no valuation clause. The Chairman said that the reason for the action of the committee in reference to the conversion of bonds was that the terms set out n a letter from the Manager of the Bank of New Zealand in reference to the subject, were not all favourable to tiie Hoard. It would take £110 worth of new stock to redeem £100 worth of old stock, and the gain to the Board would be very trilling, so trifling indeed that the apparent profit would probably be absorbed by legal charges, etc. The report of the committee was adopted. The Ha.nnaeoki) Light.—The Mayor (Mr. Devon;) wrote on behalf of Mr. Hannaford extending an invitation to the members of the Board to visit the beacon now being constructed at Mr. Beany's works at Arehhill, and contrast it with the one invented by Mr. Hannaford, who contended that the beacon was oeing built upon his plan. The Chairman said that the members would make any arrangements they thought necessary 111 order that they might accept the invitation. Foitmasok Works' pout. — A long report bv Mr. Taylor with respect to various works in progress, was referred to the Works and Tariff Committee.
