Treasurer : A. BARTEEMAN, ESQ. Solicitors: Messrs. STANFORD & MILNE. Bankers: COLONIAL BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. 1. It is proposed to form this Company for the purpose of holding an Intercolonial inhibition in the City of Dunedin towards the end of the year i 830. '2. The completion of the fiftieth year since the foundation of the Colony makes it specially appropriate to practically illustrate the developemetit of the resources of the Colony during the tirst-half century of its history in a comparison with the progress made in oilier British Colonies. A long period having elapsed since the holding of an Exhibition here, it is obviously desirable to take our industrial census again, and set forth the advance that has been made in Art, Science, Agricultural and Mineral Productions. 3. The above considerations are particularly enforced by the prospect of prosperity that is now before us, the expansion of the Colonial .Markets offering excellent opportunities for the lU'volopement of industry, and the extension of enterprise. 4. It is hoped that this Exhibition, being founded upon the sound principle of self-reliance, will do much to brace the spirit of the community, and restore confidence at Home and abroad. 5. Such an undertaking and the attention it will draw to the resources of New Zealand, should do much to prove that the Colony has really beon establishing iiseif upon a sound oasis during the years of apparent depression, and thai, it offers at the present moment .in exceptionally favourable field for settlement and the employment of capital. 6 Where one and all are so deeply interested, it. is to be hoped that, every class in the community will join in assisting the undertaking, so that it may be carried out on a scale which will be a credit to the Colony and secure the advantages of success to the utmost extent. 7. So forcibly have the inherent advantages of the scheme recommended themselves to the foresight of business men, representing every interest in the city, that within a few hours close on £3000 was subscribed towards furthering this object, and it is believed that not the slightest difficulty will be found in obtaining the amount necessary to do adequate justice to so important an enterprise. 8. There is usually some difficulty in disposing of the buildings alter the Exhibition is closed. This may lie overcome by obtaining the materials necessary for erecting the less permanent, portion 011 hire from the builders. The central portion, constructed of durable materials, may lie so built as to be used ultimately for the purposes of a Free Library, a Permanent Industrial Exhibition, or other public purposes. By this means a maximum size, combined with the greatest economy, may be obtained. 0. It is expected that it will not be necessary to call up any large proportion of the proposed capital (which is really rather of the nature of a guarantee fund); on the contrary, it is hoped that in the end a considerable proportion may lie returnad to the subscribers ; but it is necessary tit get in hand a sufficient sum for the initial outlay, and to provide for all eventualities. In case of a profit being made, the shareholders will have the right to dispose of it lor any public object. Application for Shares to be made to any of the Provisional Committee, the Company's Banker's, and to the undersigned. D. HARRIS HASTINGS, Secretary. QRION ! ORION ! QRION !
