MAYORAL ELECTIONS.

Auckland.— The Mayor of Auckland (Mr. A. E. Devore) was yesterday re-elected unopposed for a third term, and will thus have an opportunity of utilising as chief magistrate the mass of information on municipal matters which he had collected during his Southern and Australian tour. Nkwmakket.—Only one nomination for the position of Mayor of Newmarket was received yesterday by Major Pirie, Returning Officer. Mr. 'William Morgan, the oufcgoing Mayor, was nominated by Mr. Joseph sborne and Mr. Edwin Hesketh, and there being no other candidate he was declared duly elected. Pahnell.—The nominations for the Mayoralty of this borough were receivable yesterday by Mr. M. Rawlings, Returning Officer. Mr. H. B. Sealy was nominated by Messrs. J. Gay and Richard T. Briggs. No other nomination being received, Mr. Sealy was declared duly elected. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Cambridge, Tuesday.—Mr. Archibald Clements, J.P., was elected Mayor of Cambridge to-day. Mr. Clements is one of the earliest settlers in the district, and has long taken aa active part in local affairs. A couple of years ago, when the question of a borough loan was brought forward, Mr. Clements strenuously opposed the measure, and it is mainly due to him that the ratepayers are not suffering from the consequences of a debt incurred in times of inflation. It was, therefore, a graceful recognition of his services to the town that ho Ir&s to-day returned as Mayor unopposed. Thames, Tuesday. — Messrs. Alexander Brodie and William Carpenter were to-day nominated for the Mayoralty. The former is certain to be returned, Blenheim, Tuesday.—Mr. George Riley was elected Mayor unopposed. Wellington, Tuesday.—Mr. John Duthie has been elected Mayor unopposed. JVlr. S. R. Johnson wns to-day re-elected Mayor of Petone without opposition. Nelson, Tuesday.—John Sharp has been re-elected Mayor without opposition.
