ROTORUA NEWS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.} Rotorua, Saturday. Mr. Bush, R.M., who represents the Government in the purchase of the Rotorua township, had not long to wait for a turn of the tide. In spite of yesterday's determination on the part of the natives not to sell, about a third have voluntarily come to him expressing them willingness to part with their interests, provided a fair price was given. This, as far us I know, has not been fixed. Mr. Kelly's lucid explanation of the utter futility of trying to make this township a success, either for themselves or the Europeans, is having its eifect, and even the most stubborn of them are coming to look upon this terrible muddle in a wiser light. Many would sell if they could do so on the sly; at any rate I think the public may rest assured that a purchase will ultimately be made— that is : if the Government will buy shares as they are offered, and allow Mr, Bush discretionary power The tribes here are making overtures to the proprietor of the Hot Lakes Chronicle in view of establishing a Maori weekly. Mr. Frank Scott, of this place, starts next week for the Waiotapu Valley. It is his intention to form the nucleus of an accommodation establishment, and otherwise make a visit to this wonderful and interesting region as pleasant as possible.
