A MOTHER'S COMPLAINT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— Ido not know you, I can say some things I could not say to an acquaintance. While my husband lived we had much comfort in each other, but children make a large part in one's life, and here 1 fail. I do not know what I could have done that I have not done for my boy—having carefully nursed him from a sickly baby to a strong youth. My only return is more and more hard work and harder words. I am growing old and crooked and weaker, and sometimes hope I may not live longer than I can work. Love and kindness to parents does not seem to be much encouraged in Auckland, bub too much is sacrificed to amusements, for I can see others as unhappy as myself, who am only a disappointed Mother. Auckland, October 17, 1888.
