ACCIDENTS AT DARGA VILLE.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Dargaville, Wednesday. Henry James McLaren, aged eight years, son of a gumdigger, was drowned from a punt in the Kaihu Creek, on Monday. An inquest was held yesterday. Air. McDowell, the engine-driver on the Kaihu railway, met with a serious and painful accident to his right eye while cutting a piece of steel. The loss of his eye is feared. He goes to Auckland, today, for surgical treatment.
