RAILWAY ACCIDENTS.

A BOY KILLED AT MOUNT EDEN. About half-past six yesterday evening a boy, 5A years of age, named Augustine Murphy, son of John Murphy, carter, residing in Nugent-street, off Kyber Pass, was killed at the railway siding, near Mount Eden Goal, by being run over by an empty truck. It seems that the boy along with his two brothers, Cornelius and John, and other boys, were playing about an empty truck, pushing it backwards and forwards along the line. Deceased by some means fell in front of the wheels, which passed over him and killed him instantly. The body was fearfully mangled, the right arm being nearly severed from the body and the head crushed in. The accident was observed by two young men named William Walker and Benjamin Bowden, who picked the lad up and took him home. Dr. Girdler was called in, but was unable to render any assistance as life was quite extinct. It is understood that an inquest will be held to-day at the Queen's Hotel, Kyber Pass.

SHOCKING ACCIDENT TO A LADY. Another accident, fortunately not fatal, though very serious, also occurred yesterday at Mount Eden railway station. Mrs. Buries, a relative of Mr. Batger, secretary of the Auckland Building Society, was coming in yesterday evening by the Kaipara train to Mount Eden, where she lived, and on arriving at the station stepped out before the train had stopped. By some means her dress caught, and she was thrown down on the line, the wheels of the carriage breaking both limbs. She was at once taken to Mr. Batger's house, and Drs. Coom, Bond, and Roberton were called in, and were in attendance up till a late hour last night.
