"VT O T I C E. 1, Frederick John William Gascoyne, Sheriff of the District of Auckland, New Zealand, hereby give notice that under a Writ of Sale, duly issued out of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, Northern District, wherein Robert Thomas Lcyson is Plaintiff, and Thomas Baker, is Defendant, I have taken in execution all those Lots Nos. 142, 144, 145, and 146, Subdivision of Allotments 32 and 83 of Section 8 of the Suburbs of Auckland, each lot having a frontage to Richmond Road, of 40ft with a depth of 99ft with all the rights and appurtenances thereto belonging. Tamaki West Road Board, 15th October, 1888. Educational. TTNIVERSITY OF NEW ZEALAND. DECEMBER EXAMINATIONS : Matriculation, Medical Preliminary, and Junior Scholarships. These Examinations will commence on MONDAY, DECEMBER 3. The Places of Examination will be Auckland, Napier, Wanganui, Wellington, Nelson, Greymouth, Christchurch, Timaru, Oaniaru, Dunedin, Invercargill. Candidates must send in to tho Registrar of the University, Wellington, on or before SATURDAY, November 3, a list of the subjects in which they desire to be examined, signed with all their names in full, and accompanied by a statement of their ago (last birthday), and by tho examination fee, from which there is no exemption in any case. Candidates' notices will bo accepted up to SATURDAY, November 10 (but no later), only on condition tnat they are accompanied by a treble fee. The Fee for the Matriculation or the Medical Preliminary Examination is Two Guineas; the Fee for the Junior Scholarship Examination is ONE Guinea. In the last case a. second guinea will be payable if tho Candiuate. on passing, matriculates. Candidates must distinctly mention for which Examination they propose to come up. Candidates for the Junior Scholarship Examination must bo not less than 10 or more than 21 years of age. Candidates for Matriculation or Medical Preliminary Examination must not be less than 10 years of age. Two Scholarships— viz., one of £50 and another of £25 pei annum, each tenable for two years— will be offered for Public Competition in December next. Candidates will be allowed to take any six of the following subjects :—Latin, Greek, English, French, German, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography, Drawing, Manual Work. Except for Drawing and Manual Work, tho Candidates will be required to take the papers set in the foregoing subjects lor the University Junior Scholarships, and to do well enough to obtain credit for the Matriculation Examination. A Special Examination in Drawing and Manual Work will be held at Canterbury College immediately after the University Examination for Junior Scholarships. Candidates must gain at least 30 per cent of the full marks in Mathematics, Science and Drawing, and the marks in no subject will be counted towards the total unless tbo candidate has gained at least 'JO uer cent 01 the full marks in that subject. A Schedule of Marks can be had on application. The University fee for the Junior Scholarship Examination is £1 Is ; and the candidates' names must be entered both with the Registrar of the University and with the undersigned not later than SATURDAY, November 3.
