Alburnia.—A crushing of "20 loads general dirt and 60 pounds picked stone was completed for this company to-day at the Caledonian battery , for the payable return of 570z melted gold. Askham-Moi.lov.— start was made to treat the tailings raised from the foreshore allotment to-day. All the machinery is working very nicely, and Mr. Hale intends to run two shifts j>er day during the present week—i.e., 16 hours per diem. -Makototo District.—lt is reported here to-day that all the men employed in prospecting the Maroto to North and South claims (Sydney properties) were discharged cn Saturday last. , [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWX CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Monday. Saxon.—Cleaning up and retorting of general dirt crushed during last fortnight will eventuate to-morrow. Caledonian.—The company's men and tribute™ were obliged to suspend operations this morning, owing to a party of tributers working in Turtle's Kuramu from Caledoniun shaft, breaking into the old workings and flooding the mine with gas. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Trenton.— shaft has been sunk five feet during the week, making the total depth of the shaft 453 feet. The country in the bottom still continues very hard, and, as a matter of course, the progress made is not so fast as we would like, but I confidently expect to get through it soon, and into a better class of country. Adeline Amalgamated.—The crosscut in, the Adeline section has now reached 102 feet driven, and the lode has been intersected. It i." four inches in width. Gold has been seen in the quartz. J lie drive on the Onion lode at No. .'3 level is in 103 feet beyond the crosscut, the lode at that point being quite 8 feet wide, and all of good finality. To meet the large output of milling ore, 100 feet length of elevated tramways have been added at the dumps for each °t No. l and No. 3 levels, giving ample space lor the classification as the ore conies from the mine, in the millhouse, both engines are nearly completely fixed up. The stonebreaker, roller mill, Globe mills, pans, and settlers are all in position and in a forward State ready for work. The dust chamber and Will gearings are under way. The contractor lor the poppet heads is making good progress. In two weeks from this date Mr. Corbett expects to have the shaft pumped out and the contractors resume sinking. All necessary timber, etc., is ready for opening up chamber and for crosscutting to deal with the Union lode at the new level.
