ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

Last evening a young man, named Michael Sheehan, a bootmaker, attempted suicide by cutting his throat, at his residence, Hobson-street, nea» Pond's Laboratory. It appears that he was suddenly seized with a delusion that some persons were accusing him of crime, and that the detectives wero after him. He went out early in the evening, and took a walk, and on returning homo told his mother he would go upstairs to his bedroom and write. Shortly afterwards he called down tho staircase, in a gurgling tone of voice, "Mother!" On going up the staircase, it was found that he had cut his throat with a razor. Dr. Hooper was sent for, and he attended to the wounded man, putting eight stitches into the wound in the throat, and directed Shoehan'a removal to the Hospital. Sergeant-Major Pratt thereupon instructed Constable Russell to get a cab at Crowther's, and convey the wounded man thither. On arrival at the Hospital, his case was at once attended to, and on telephoning to the Hospital later in the night, the Hospital authorities oxpressed the belief that Sheehan will recover, as the wound is not a very dangerous one, although he has lost a good deal of blood. The young man has been out of employ during the past three weeks, and had fallen into a melancholy state of mind.
