THE WOOLLEN COMPANY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln your report of the Onehunga meeting in connection with the Woollen Company, I notice that Mr. Osborne, in the kindness of his heart, said the thanks of the shareholders were due to me for the trouble I had taken in the company's affairs. I can only say I tried to do what I could, but if one man more than another deserves thanks, that man is certainly .Mr. Barstow. He helped us in every way, and when we were in sore straits for money he was ever ready to put his hand in his pocket. lam sure if it had been possible to have carried the concern to a successful issue, he would not have given in. I have never worked alongside a more unselfish man. He neither spared himself nor his purse in the interests of the company.—l am, etc., James Wingate. Auckland, 10th October, 1888.
