Napier, Wednesday. The Napier Park Races to-day were favoured with splendid weather. The attendance was large, and the racing was excellent, but boil-overs were the order of the day, the favourites being out of it, consequently the dividends were good. The following are the details of the racing :— Free Handicap, of 50sovs. One mile. Mr. Beresford's ch c Leopold, 3yrs, 7sfc 121b 1 Mr. Munn's br h Waterfall, 4yrs, 7st 91b 2 Mr. Enko's br m Balista, 4yrs, 7st 101b 3 Escapade, Soudan, Corsair, and Pretender also started. From a capital tart Corsair got away slightly in front of Pretender, with Balista, Waterfall, and Soudan next, with Escapade brought up the tail. Very slight alteration took place until the" back of the course was reached. Balista here made a forward move, and Soudan began to drop hopelessly in the rear. At the hill bend Leopold came with determination, and soon had Pretender in difficulties. Entering the straight all the horses were under the whip, with the exception of Soudan, who was hopelessly out of the hunt. Leopold had a slight advantage of Waterfall, who had come through his horses in magnificent style, and a shout went up lor the black son of Musket, but although he struggled gamely he could not quite get on terms with Leopold, who won a splendid race all out by half a length from Waterfall, Balista a length away third. Time, lmin 50 3-sth sec. Dividends, £3 10s and £3 18s. Handicap Hurdle Race of 70sovs. About two miles. Mr. J. Heme's blk g Erebus, aged, by Treason, 9st ... ... ... ... 1 Mr. Jas. The field was quickly despatched to a good start. Meta was first on her feet, then Partner and Waterfall in close attendance, Jet d'Eau being very slow. After leading for about a quarter of a mile Meta gave place to Partner, who led past the stand by half a length in advance of Meta and Waterfall, with Cuirassier and Dudu next, Recluse heading the remaining division. At the bend Meta again went up and raced Partner, Dudu moving up into third place, while Escutcheon also advanced. At the back Partner and Meta had to retire, and Dudu led by a length from Waterfall, who had Escutcheon and Recluse on his girths, Jet d'Eau still whipping in the field. Rounding the hill bend -Lenore shot out from the ruck and joined the leaders. Entering the straight Recluse came to the front, and raced into the straight, but was hotly pursued by Lenore, who caught him about a furlong from home, when the spectators were treated to a splendid finish, the pair racing neck-and-neck to the post—the three-year-old just landing the stakes by a short head, all out; Waterfall, a length and a-half away, third j Escutcheon, fourth ; Dudu, fifth. Then came Meta, Silence, Partner, Cuirassier, and Jet d'Eau, in that order. Time, 2min oOsec. Dividends : £10 6s, £11 Bs.

Keith's b g Escapade, 6yrs, Sst 61bs 3 Forester, Leopold, Balista, Rufus, Soudan, Tennyson, Man Friday, and Katinka, also started. Delay was caused at the start, by the over-anxiety of some of the jockies, and when the flag did fall Lady Florin had undoubtedly the best of it, with Tennyson, Rufus, Forester, Soudan, and Whisper next, Leopold, Escapade, and Katinka being the last to move. Lady Florin and Rufus cut out the running at a great pace, and Tennyson soon dropped behind. Lady Florin continued in the van until entering the straight, when Whisper rushed to the front, and Escapade rapidly overhauling his horses and into third place, but although Lady Florin and Escapade tried hard to catch Whisper it was of no avail, as she won untouched by the whip, by a length and a half from Lady Florin, who beat Escapade by half a length for second place. At a meeting of the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club this evening, a letter was received from the stewards of the Island Bay Racing Club, stating that as a change in the tenancy of the Island Bay course prevented their continuing operations, they were anxious to recompense their late secretary, Mr. G. Donne, for his loss of office, and they had hit on the expediency of tendering him a complimentary race meeting, if the Wellington Racing Club would place one of the racing tracks at their disposal for the purpose. It was unanimously decided to allow them the use of the Island Bay course for one day's meeting. to be held 4th December. i
