WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.
[BY telegraph.—OWN correspondent.] Wellington, Wednesday. ministerial movements. The Hon. Mr. Fisher, Minister of Education, was a passenger this afternoon by the s.s. Hauroto for Lyttolton. He goes South on business connected with his department. lie will return on Saturday or Sunday next. A telegram has been received from the Hon. Mr. Mitchelson, Minister of Public Works, stating that he will be in Wellington to-morrow. He has been engaged inspecting the (Jorge Bridge on the extension line, which is a large and important work. The Hon. Mr. Hislop, Colonial Secretary, is expected to return on Friday. The Premier is now in sole charge of the Government. MARLBOROUGH GOLDFIELDS. A prospecting party has started for the Forks, Wakamarina. The price of scrip is said to be rising, and several well-known sharebrokers are on the ground. The Post this evening criticises with much severity the address of the Minister of Mines to the diggers on first meeting them. I may, however, state that plans are being prepared for two main tracks through the field.
