NEW ZEALAND BEEKEEPERS' ASSOCIATION.

. — The monthly meeting of the above Society was held yesterday afternoon at the office of Messrs. Hopkins, Hayr, and Co, Mr. G. Peacocke in the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. With regard to the proposed convention of beekeepers from all parts ot the colony, to be held some time in March next, Mr. Peacocke pointed out the desirability of holding a show of honey and bee appliances at the same time, and the secretary was renested to interview the Chairman of the Horticultural Society and see what arrangements could be made to hold a beekeepers' show in connection with the Horticultural Society's Show in March next.. A committee; consisting of the president, vice-president, and secretary, was appointed to wait upon the Steam Shipping Companies, to ascertain what, if any, concession.can be obtained in the way of reduced fares to beekeepers wishing to attend the proposed Beekeepers' Conventiongin March next. A long discussion took place on the question of marketing honey, and after considering Mr. Mulvany's articles on the subject, it was resolved, on the proposition of Mr. O. Poole, seconded by Air. Hooker, "That the Executive Committee, after careful consideration of the subject whether honey Can be made a staple article of commerce or not, fully endorses all that Mr. T. J. Mulvany has said in his able articles on the subject, and tender a hearty vote of thanks to him for the same. Mr. Peacocke called attention to the desirability of the Government obtaining satisfies each year with regard to apiarian products at the same time, and by the same means as the agricultural statistics are collected. A resolution was carried to that effect, and tho secretary to forward a copy of the same to the Minister of Lands, with a request that the same should receive the attention of the Government. The Rev. J. R. Madan gave a description of an interesting series of experiments in which he was engaged with regard to the scientific ventilation of hives, a knowledge of which is of the greatest importance to apiarists. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
