THE GOLDFIELDS.

THE WAIKAKAHO GOLDFIELD. [by telegraph.—press association.] Blenheim, Friday. A miner who has been on the Waikakaho field since the first rush informs the Marlborough Times that at one time there must have been 700 on the ground, and that now there are only 200, and most of these are leaving fast. Four or five new men arrive on the field in a day, and 40 or so go away. The deepest shaft on the field is down 26 feet, but the workers have had to stop on account of the water until they got pumps fixed. Several parties are deepening their tail races, determined to bottom if possible, while others are leaving their claims in disgust.
