A representative of Messrs Nelson Brothers has had an interview with the members of the Government, requesting that railway''facilities should be granted to the firm in order to assist the export of frozen meat. Messrs Nelson express their willingness to export 20,000 carcases per month if their request is complied with. THE MINERS' STRIKE. Sydney, September 27, The Mediation Committee have abandoned the proposed agreement drawn up by them, and now suggest that the .miners should return to work, pending a reference of the matters in dispuce to a Board of Conciliation. It is proposed that the Board should consist of live persons—two to be appointed by the employers, two by the miners, and the fifth (who should act as referee) by the Chief Justice of the colony. A RECORD OF LEICHARDT. Adelaide, September 27. An old tree has been discovered in longitude 135 E. and latitude 23 S., and having the letter " L " carved upon it. It is supposed to be a record of Leichardt, the explorer. AN ABORTIVE LOAN. Hobart, September 27. Tenders which had been invited for £50,000 in Treasury bills at 4| per cent, were opened yesterday, when it was found that only £11,000 had been tendered. THE HANLAN-KEMP RACE. Sydney, September 27.
