[press ASSOCIATION. London, September 19. At the wool auctions to-day 13,000 bales were sold, the selection offered being much better than on the previous day. Australian faulty sorts have a hardening tendency. English hop stocks are heavy. September 20. The weekly returns of the Bank of England published to-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion at £11,950,000, and the proportion of reserve to liabilities 40 per cent., being a decrease of £745,000 on the total reserve, and a decrease of 4 per cent, in the proportion of reserve to liabilities. London, September 21. At to-day's wool sales, 10,000 bales were catalogued. Scoured merinos sold at from id to Id dearer. With exception of New Zealand lots, locks were weaker, greasy id dearer. Inferior scoured crossbreds have declined id. New Consols are 99.
