Yesterday morning the clipper American barque Albert Russell hauled out from her loading berth at the Railway Wharf into the stream, in readiness to sail for New York, ■"••hither Captain Carver expects to get away this morning. The barque has had excellent despatch at the hands of her agents, who were well seconded in their efforts to give her a quick loading by that energetic stevedore, Mr. G. Paltridge. She has now under hatches a very valuable cargo of 5925 cases of kauri j;um, put down as worth £33,500. Three passengers are also proceeding by her to New York. Last evening the Awhina returned from a cruise round Tiri, and reported that the barque Clairmont was inside the Little Barrier, and was coming into harbour "under the charge of Pilot McGillivray, and ■was to be sailed up the Channel. She will therefore get into port some time this forenoon. Tlie Clairmont is at present under charter Co the Colonial Union Co., and sailed from London on June 30, with a general cargo, valued at £4200. Abcrut 4 o'clock yesterday morning the s.s. Wellington arrived from Whangarei, not Laving left that place until 7 p.m. on Thursday. She brought a large number of passengers and a quantity of produce. The s.s. Clansman returned about daybreak yesterday morning from her round trip to Russell and Northern ports. The | passenger accommodatien was well patronised, and her freight consisted of 198 sacks and 55 cases gum, 3 sacks hides, and sundries. The Jubilee S.S. Co.'s Stormbird arrived List night from Whangarei with a good list of passengers and 100 bags lime, 50 sacks gum, and 4 tons sundries. Shortly after 10 o'clock yesterday forenoon, the s.s. Staffa reached port from the Bay of Plenty, with 250 sacks maize, and jeveral passengers. The ship Kiuochan was ballasting yesterday, and will probably sail for Lyttelton to ■ioad for home early next week. It is expected "that the island schooner Agnes Donald will clear tor Rarotonga and sail to-day. She has a cargo of general stores on board, and her back loading will be fruit. At Whangarei the barquentine Mercury lias completed her loading of 550 tons of coal, and will sail at the first opportunity for Albany, Western Australia, in execution of the charter arranged recently by Messrs. C. F. James and Co. Her cargo is the first direct export of coal from the port. The only vessels loading at the Mercury Bay mills with timber are the barque Loon2aua for Newcastle, the brigantine Lady i.label for Sydney, and the schooner Dunedin for Napier. The s.s. lona, which returned from her trip to Great Barrier, was yesterday taking in cargo for Mercury Bay, for which port she left in the evening. Instead of getting in to-morrow as usual the Union S.S. Co.'s Australia will not arrive _ from the East Coast till Monday morning. The loading of the ship Crusader is proceeding apace. Yesterday she was taking in tallow and bark. When the barque Clairmont arrives to-day ■ the aggregate tonnage of foreign-going sailing vessels in port will amount to over 6500 tons, a larger figure than has been represented in the harbour for several months. In addition to the vessels included, comprising the ships Piako, Crusader, Killochan, ana barques Stavanger, Deva, Albert Russell, and Clairmont, H.M.S. Diamond, and the barques Rose M. and Belle Isle are also in port. The various steamers of the Northern S.S. Co.'s fleet took their departure for their respective ports along the coast. The barque Wenona, with a full load of " hewn ana sawn " was towed from Helensville yesterday to the Kaipara Heads, and will sail for Melbourne the first chance. The barques Presto and Cabarfeidh, and brigantine Stanley are busily engaged in filling up with similar freight at the same loading ground.
