THE DONCASTER MEETING. London, September 14. At Doncaster Meeting to-day, the Portland Plate was won by Goldseeker; Castlerock, 2 ; Nina, 3.

The shipment of trotters' imported from America by Mr. J. J. Miller, of Victoria, were brought over by the mail steamer Alameda, which arrived on Saturday last. It was Mr. .Miller's intention to have landed the horses in Auckland for a few hours, but as they were in most comfortable quarters, he decided not to do so. The shipment was composed of the stallion Red Wind and the two broodmares, Lucrettia and Red Rose. The stallion is a beautiful brown horse standing 15.3, showing heaps of quality all over, while the mares are grand specimens of the trotter. The horses show no ill-effects from the voyage, and so far as could be seen none of them had received so much as a scratch. Mr. Miller went on with the horses yesterday morning.
