CANADIAN RAILWAYS.
PROPOSED IMPERIAL SUBSIDY.
[press association.]
Ottawa, September 12. Sir John Macdonald, Premier of Canada, will probably visit England at an early date with the object of urging upon. Lord Salisbury the desirability of granting several millions to the Government of the Dominion for the purpose of constructing strategic and commercial railways, which should be part of the system of defence.
London, September 13.
The rumour that the Canadian Government intended to ask the Imperial Government for a subsidy towards the extension of the Dominion Railways is denied.
