CORRESPONDENCE.

FIRE KINDLE TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I notice in your issue of this morning an articleabout "FireKindlers," stating that Mr. Coleman, cabinetmaker, of North Shore, has patented a firelighter which he claims to be superior to any thai are now in the market. In the first place, he states that it is indestructible. It is not, as having tested them I find that they are very easily burnt, and after having been alight for a few times, will crumble away. Second, he states that each lighter, after having been dipped in kerosene, will burn ten minutes. I have tested this statement, and find that the longest time they will burn is not more than two minutes. I may also state that so far from it being a new invention, it was patented in America some 20 years ago, but not being a success, died a natural death. You will see by your advertising columns that I have challenged Mr. Coleman to a public exhibition of our respective firelighters, at Mr. J. Leydon's auction mart, on Monday, the 10th, at 3 o'clock, and I trust that the public will be present so as to discriminate whose is the best, and which is the cheapest and the most lasting for the public to use.—l am, etc., H. Waite, Patentee and sole manufacturer of Waite's Fire Kindlers.
