MR. A. SAUNDEU.S , STOCK AND SIIABJE REPORT. A good deal of business has been transacted during the past month, and money is plentiful for all sound commercial purposes and Rood securities. Banks.—New Zealands have fallen somewhat in anticipation of a new issue. Colonials arc firm, and a large business has been done in the stock at advanced rates. In Nationals very few transactions are reported. The shares are flrni in the market. Insurance.—All insurance shares are in favour, and command good prices. New Zealand, Union, and National Co.s' shares have been largely dealt in during the month. The markot seems capable of baorbing any quantity of Insurance stocks in lieu of any better security. Loan and Mercantile and Gas shares are in demand, and investors are willing to give high prices to obtain tlio shares. Coal.—lt was anticipated that in consequence of the strike at Newcastle a good rise would take place in Taupiri and other coal shares, but up to the present no appreciable difference is remarked. Land Mortgage Co.—This stock Ls vory quiet, sellers under par and little business to report. Dkvonport Ferry shares have risen, the company is doing an excellent bussiness. Timbkr.—There are no quotations for any of the different companies, except Sash and Door, at a small figure, all the other companies having dually settled with the Kauri Timber Company, whose shares are not as yet quoted on the stock list. Mining is terribly dull, and until a good find is made business in all mining shares is bound to be slack. It is confidently hoped that the Cambria will yet come on another patch of gold. The Saxon is turning out Rood stone, and the new level should pay the shareholders well. Alburnia and oth<?r mines at the Thames proper are doing good woi-k, and may make a name for themselves at no distant date. From the upper country, we have news from che Union (Waihi) and Te Aroha Company that work is being pushed ahead, and it is thought that dividends are in the Dear f both companis.

At Karangahake, the new process constructed by Mr. Parkes is not yet in operation. lien work 13 started, it is believed that the mines will amply repay the owners. . „ . .. . The following list gives the fluctuations of the market, and the present prices of stocks :
