MINISTERS IN AUCKLAND.

The Hon. Mr. Mitchelson, Minister of Public Works, and the Hon. Mr. Hislop, Colonial Secretary, are at present in Auckland. The Hon. Mr. Mitchelson's visit is purely of a private character not connected with his public duties. He was, however, interviewed by several persons. Mr. Mitchelson returns South on .Monday by the steamer G air loch.

The Hon. Mr. Hislop yesterday visited the Avondale Lunatic Asylum, and made a thorough inspection of it, this being one of the chief objects of his visit to the North. He was much pleased with the whole of the arrangements, and with Dr. Cremonini's systematic mode of currying on the institution. In the afternoon he visited the Free Public Library, and was greatly pleased with the institution, and was especially taken by the Grey collection of volumes, manuscripts, coins, medals, and pictures. He also paid a brief visit to the Art Gallery. Mr. Hislop will leave to-day for Waiwera, where he will remain until Monday or Tuesday, and then proceed South.
