HOW A FROZEN MAN'S LIFE WAS SAVED.
The Vienna correspondent of the Times says that a successful operation performed by Professor Billroth at the Vienna Klinik ia much commented on there. While a carrier was driving his team to town last winter his legs, fingers, ears, and nose were frozen. At the time his life was despaired of. Both his legs had to be cut off, and only one finger on each hand could be saved. His nose was replaced by an artificial one, and his ears were clipped. He bore his sufferings with remarkable composure, and, having been supplied with artificial legs and feet, he can now get about with the aid of two simple sticks. It is surprising that with one finger he ia able to write very well. ____________
