CORRESPONDENCE.

THE POLICE COURT ROOM. TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l never was more astonished when I saw the Herald this morning, when your reporter misrepresented me at the licensing meeting for City North. He represented me as saying the Police Court in which we sat was a "cursed place." I said it was a "wretched place." I meant as regards its acoustic properties. I did not use the words " cursed place." and both Sergeant Pratt and Mr. Baume and my fellow-committeemen can bear me out in what I say. I regret your reporter is not more correct in his reports.—l am, &c., J. P. King, Chairman for City North. Queen-sfcreet, September 4. [Probably it was owing to the very bad construction of the Court for acoustic purposes chat our reporter mistook the word "wretched" for "cursed." Mr. King ought to welcome the mistake as a splendid example of how faulty in this respect the Courthouse is.—Ed.]
