THE WRECK OF THE COLONIST.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Wellington, Monday. The jury at the inquest on the body of Captain Bailey, of the ill-fated Colonist, having imputed neglect to the harbour authorities in not dispatching early assistance, the harbourmaster states that immediately on receipt of information that the vessel was in distress he made arrangements for the dispatch of the Australia to render assistance, and instructed the pilot to pick up the pilot boat and crew and take them out to help the vessel. When the Australia reached the snot the vessel had broken up, and nothing could be seen but wreckage.
