At 9 a.m. yesterday the tu" Awhina returned from her cruise in search of the dismantled scow, Rata, with that vessel safely in tow. When proceeding to Kennedy Bay on Saturday last the scow met with a sudden squall off Waikawau, which carried away both her masts. The master rigged up his main boom and top masts as jury sticks, and was making slow headway when the wind freshened, and as the vessel was blown out of her course, he judged it prudent to drop anchor when between Cuvier and Mercury Islands. The tug picked up the barge about 10 p.m. on Monday night, and at once took her in tow, reaching the harbour as above. •The Rata is now anchored off Freeman's Bay. Early yesterday forenoon the ship Crusader was hauled in from her position in the stream, and berthed at Queen-street Wharf, under the big crane. The ship Piako will be hauled out into the ttream this morning. At the Queen-street Wharf yesterday great iespatch was used in the discharge of the ;.s. Ohau's cargo of produce, grain, and flour, .nd the whole of it was taken out before ni:rht. Yesterday forenoon the work of shipping ihe balance of the 300 horses for India on the ».s. Bucephalus was successfully accomplished, and the steamer is now ready to proceed on her voyage. She takes as passengers Capt. Walmsley, Messrs. G. McLean, and Thorpe, vho go to Calcutta on behalf of the Stud Company to dispose of the valuable shipment of horses. The Bucephalus will sail at daylight this morning. The barque Helen finished taking in ballast yesterday, and will be cleared for Sydney »-day. She goes via Whangaroa, where she will take in a load of kauri for New South Wales. Early yesterday morning the schooner Christine, owned by Captain J. McLiver, returned to port, after an absence of over two years. During that time she has been engaged in the South Sea labour trade, and trading among the. various islands. Captain McLiver has throughout the cruise suffered greatly from fever and ague, which complaints also attacked several of the crew. He at length became so debilitated that when Sydney was reached early this month he had to engage a new master to bring the schooner to Auckland. Capt. J. Chew was appointed, and the Christine came in from Sydney under his charge. She brings a cargo of shale for the Auckland Gas Company. Of the trip across Captain Chew reports that the Christine left Sydney at 5 p.m. on the 17th instant, passed Cape Maria at 1 a.m. on the 26th, and reached Auckland at 5 a.m. yesterday. Light westerly winds, with fine weather, prevailed throughout the passage. About two o'clock yesterday the s.s. Mararoa returned from Drunken Bay, whither she had gone to be swung, while having her compasses adjusted under the supervision of Captain Clayton. The arrivals of the barques Deva, from London, and the Albert Russell, from New York via Wellington are anxiously awaited by consignees. Both vessels are now due and may be expected in at any hour. ' The ship Piako will probably make a stay of some little time in the stream, as she is ready for loading rather earlier than the beginning of the wool season at Napier, where ehe is to be put on the berth for London. Hatches were lifted and bulk broken yesterday on board the ship Crusader. The first cargo to be taken out is a heavy piece of ordnance for the defence works at Fort

Cautley, which is to be lifted out by the Harbour Board's big crane. PORT OF ONEHUNGA. DEPARTURES. Rotorua s.s., Neville, for the South.
