GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD OF GOVERNORS.

The Board of Governors of the Auckland College and Grammar School met yesterday. Colonel Haultain presided, and the Rev. C. M. Nelson, and Messrs J. H. Upton, J. M. Lennox, J. A. Tole, and S. Luke were also present. Head Master's Report. — The head master, Mr. C. F. Bourne, forwarded his report as to the condition of the school. A pupil of whom he had previously complained had now improved in demeanour, and there were none of whom he thought it necessary to report as undeserving. G. S. Keesing desired the extension of free education up to the end of the year. The Board resolved to extend this student's term as requested. The Teaching of Girls.—A letter from Mr. Bourne, with respect to the arrangements for the teaching of girls at the Grammar School, was discussed in committee, and it was resolved :—" 1. That lady teachers be not employed at the school in teaching boys. 2. That girls and boys be not taught in the one class. 3. That the Chairman confer with Mr. Bourne as to certain arrangements for teaching girls at the Grammar School." Employment.—lt was resolved to continue Miss Richardson's employment at the school as sewing teacher until the end of this term. In reply to a request from Mr. A. M. Buxtable, ife was resolved " That the Board have no intention of appointing another master at the Grammar School." Land.—A letter from Mr. T. Waring, requesting permission to give up land at Remuera, was referred to the Property Committee.
