A document of a perfectly unique kind has just been presented to Her Majesty the Queen at Windsor Castle. It occurred to a number of the harbourmasters and pilots of the United Kingdom that an address to the Queen, setting forth their readiness to do and dare in their country's service, would bo both appropriate and acceptable. On July .4 saw this praiseworthy design reach its concluding stage, when Sir George Elliott, M.P., and Mr Cooper, placed before Her Majesty a roll signed by upwards of 2000 harbourmasters, pilots! and other officials connected with the ports of the kingdom. Accompanying the roll was a chart of the English Scotch, and Irish coasts, with red dots indicating the various ports and harbours from which the signatures emanated ; and it was gratifying to notice the complete circle of red all round oar indented coast line. On - the map is inscribed the announcement that this is the " first harbourmasters' roll" yet produced, and, further, that it was " compiled in the Jubilee Year of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Empress of India, showing where the harbourmasters, with their trained assistants, the pilots, and other officials connected with the sea, m number as indicated, each individually the centre of a maritime population, tender their services to the throne as an intelligent lookout in times of emergency or danger." . , ■ ■ The following additional particulars re the wreck of the s.s. Angers,, mentioned in our cables recently, will be of. interest: —'The China tea steamer Angers is ashore on Cockburn reef, three hundred miles north of Cooktown. There are 500 tons of tea on board. It is the same spot where the Ganges struck some time ago. Captain Pinkham came on in the Victoria to make arrangements for floating the vessel, which was bound from Foochow to Sydney with 500 tons of tea. The tide is flowing in and out of the forehold, but the after hold is perfectly dry. The stern is in deep water. The local Lloyds' agents are arranging to send pumping gear from Townsville, and expect to save the remainder of the cargo and the vessel. The captain awaits the arrival of the necessary gear here before proceeding back to the vessel. The ship Killochan recently dismasted has completed her repairs at Melbourne, and sailed thence yesterday at 7 a.m. for Auckland direct. She comes consigned to Messrs. T. and S. Morrin and Co. (Limited.)
