Ike Auckland "Reps."—Though the impending match with the English team on September 8 is looked upon by all who pretend to any knowledge of the Rugby game as certain to be the toughest struggle for supremacy in which our local " reps." have yefc engaged, and one upon which the honour of Auckland and the question of superiority as regards the Southern provinces as well a3 the Englishmen depends, yet a very lukewarm spirit has been displayed by the chosen fifteen in regard to entering into training' or attending the practices arranged. It is possible that members of the fifteen consider themselves sure in their election, and think it uot worth their while to get into good condition in too much of a hurry, but both the public and the selection committee hold a decidedly opposite opinion, and the members of the latter will be present this afternoon at the Metropolitan to note the absentees, and unless substantial reasons for non-attendance are advanced to take prompt steps for their exclusion from the chosen team. We hope that a word to the wise will be sufficient.
