A public meeting of the inhabitants of the Thames district will be held to-morrow evening, to protest against the action of the Government in not providing for progressive works on the Thames-Te Aroha railway, and also to consider the following telegram, received from Colonel Fraser, M.H.R. :—" Public Works Statement re our railway unsatisfactory : plans and specifications prepared for contract for bridges Hikutaia and Ohinemuri sections, but it is not proposed to call for tenders during the current year.
